Ibn Battuta, who visited India during Delhi Sultanate, originally belonged to which country?

Ibn Battuta was a famous Muslim Berber scholar and explorer who originally belonged to Tangier, Morocco. He traveled extensively across Afro-Eurasia and visited India in 1333 AD during the reign of Sultan Muhammad bin Tughlaq. He was appointed as a Qazi (judge) by the Sultan and wrote the famous travelogue Rihla.
