The Fugitive Economic Offenders Bill, 2017 (which later became an Act in 2018) was targeted at economic offenders who evade prosecution by fleeing the country. The provisions of this law are strictly applicable to instances where the total value involved in the economic offences exceeds Rs 100 crores.
