Green sulphur bacteria perform anoxygenic photosynthesis. Instead of ${\text{H}}_2\text{O}$, they use ${\text{H}}_2\text{S}$ as an electron donor. Consequently, sulfur is produced instead of oxygen. Cycas (gymnosperm), Nostoc (cyanobacteria), and Chara (green alga) all perform oxygenic photosynthesis.
