What is the direction of movement of sugars in phloem?

Xylem transport is strictly unidirectional (upward). However, in phloem, sugars are transported from the source (leaves) to the sink (roots, fruits, growing buds). Since the source-sink relationship changes seasonally, the transport is bi-directional.
