'Kherwari Hul' is the indigenous name for the Santhal Rebellion ($1855\text{-}56$). Led by the brothers Sidhu and Kanhu Murmu, this tribal uprising was aimed against the oppressive British colonial revenue systems and exploitative moneylenders (dikus).
