When did the Government present the Kisan Credit Card Scheme?

The Kisan Credit Card (KCC) scheme was introduced by Indian public sector banks in August 1998. The scheme was formulated by NABARD (National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development) on the recommendations of the R.V. Gupta Committee to provide timely and short-term credit lines to farmers for their agricultural needs.
