The 79th Constitutional Amendment Act, enacted in 1999, amended Article 334 of the Indian Constitution to extend the reservation of seats for Scheduled Castes (SCs) and Scheduled Tribes (STs) in the Lok Sabha and State Legislative Assemblies, as well as the special representation of the Anglo-Indian community, for a further period of ten years (until 2010).
