Who was the first Indian to win the Nobel Prize in Physics?

Sir Chandrasekhara Venkata Raman (C.V. Raman) was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1930 for his groundbreaking work on the scattering of light and the discovery of the effect named after him (the Raman Effect). He was the first Indian and first Asian to receive a Nobel Prize in any scientific field.
