Rajbhasha means the language of the king or the state. It is the language in which the ruler or administration works. Rashtrabhasha is that which is used by the common people of the nation. The scope of Rajbhasha is limited. Rashtrabhasha is the contact language of the entire country. The public has an emotional attachment to the Rashtrabhasha because the cultural traditions of the common people are associated with it. There may or may not be such respect for the Rajbhasha because it can belong to one's own country or to a ruler from a foreign country. In today's democratic system, Hindi is placed as the official language (Rajbhasha). On September 14, 1949, Hindi was recognized in the Constitution of India. According to Article 120 of the Constitution, the work of Parliament is conducted in Hindi or English. Under Article 210, the work of the legislatures of the states can be conducted in the official language of their respective state or in Hindi or English. According to Article 343, the official language of the Union shall be Hindi and the script Devanagari. Mahatma Gandhi contributed to the propagation and promotion of this language. In Article 344, the President has been asked to use Hindi language more in official work.
